Jimmie Rogers Obituary

ROGERS, JIMMIE FRANK - age 75, passed away on Friday October 26, 2007. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City since 1945, and retired from the US Navy in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was born on October 11, 1932 in Fountain City, Tennessee to Lillian (Brooks) Rogers and James H. Rogers. He is survived by: his wife of 25 years, Geraldine (Ervin) Rogers of Knoxville, Tennessee; brothers, Charles and Terry Rogers of Knoxville; sister, Brenda Tucker of Dandridge; step-children, Tammy Goodrich, Johnanna Wolford, Donna Holbrook, Charles Van Morgan, all of Knoxville, and Arlene Hossler of Dandridge. He is also survived by seven children from his first marriage to Iris Appling (deceased): Pamela Lee, Jeffery Rogers, Kimberly Smith, Renee Mingle all of Knoxville, Sharon Smith, Bradley Rogers of Lafollette, and Karen Sempsrott of Boise, ID; 28 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be on Monday October 29th at 7:00 PM at Central Baptist Church of Fountain City. Graveside service will be on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Lynnhurst Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 7 prior to the funeral service. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Jimmie F. Rogers. May The Lord wrap His arms around you and comfort you with His warmth and love.

Mr. Rogers stand down. Your mission is complete. As a member of The United States Navy you helped to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you for your service to the American people. We salute you and honor you for your service.
