Knoxville, TN

Michael Wayne Franklin, age 52, of Knoxville, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016, following an automobile accident. Michael was a loving and hard working man who influenced everyone who knew him. He enjoyed bluegrass music and his Harley motorcycle. Most of all he enjoyed helping anyone in need.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Silas Franklin, Jr.; and brother, Gary Lynn Franklin. He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Kathy Swicegood Franklin; son, Dustin Franklin; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jered Collis; mother, Geraldine Oody Franklin; sisters, Teresa Franklin, Cindy Braden and husband, Stacey; brother, Charles Franklin and wife, Jeannie; grandmother, Willie Arp Oody; mother of his children, Sheila Goines Brown; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Vivian Jane Swicegood; sister-in-law, Janet Hammersmith; brothers-in-law, Tim and Luke Swicegood; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 12th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday at Reed Springs Baptist Church, 485 Reed Springs Road, Philadelphia, TN 37846. Rev. Rick Harrell and Rev. Russell Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Reed Springs Cemetery. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
