Richard Conley Obituary

CONLEY, RICHARD R. - age 71, of Spruce Pine, NC died Saturday, July 3, 2010 after an extended illness. He was born in Mitchell County, NC on November 19, 1938 to Gladys Conley and Carmel Cox. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved the outdoors, golfing, fishing, family, and life. He was a builder and developer in Knoxville, TN for many years. He is survived by his wife, Betty Huskins Conley of Spruce Pine, NC; his son, Richard Conley of Knoxville, TN; his sister, Scottie Wilson of Bakersville, NC; and former wife, Wanda Garland of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Steve and Amy Willis of Lynchburg, VA and Gerri Willis and David Evans of Hartsdale, NY and Aaron and Frankie Pryor of Cincinnati, OH. He was a grandfather to six grandchidren, Elizabeth Wagner of Cincinnati, OH; Josiah, Zion, and Elisha Conley of Knoxville, TN; and Nate and Cate Willis of Lynchburg, VA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Lily Branch Baptist Church with a graveside service at 2:00pm for those wishing to attend. A reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall for all. In lieu of flowers the family asks that Memorial Donations be made to Hospice of Mitchell County PO Box 38 Spruce Pine, NC 28777. Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine, NC is assisting the Conley family.
