Thomas Jefferson "T.J." Harrison, IV, 78; of Sneedville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in his home on October 6, 2018.

He was born on May 29, 1940 in Claiborne County, Tennessee and was the son of the late Tom and Lucile Pearson Harrison of Sneedville. He was married to Phyllis Stubblefield Harrison for 51 years. T.J. had a devout commitment to his community and a passion for education. Following his college education from Lincoln Memorial University, he began a career as a teacher, principal and basketball coach in Hancock County. He served a number of years as chairman of the Republican Party and co-owned and managed Harrison Farm and Home Supply and Sneedville Electric & Furniture. Outside of his businesses, he enjoyed politics, farming, construction, real estate and was an automotive (Dodge) enthusiast. He was a 50 year member of the Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Tennessee Lodge #277. Above all, he worked diligently to provide for his loving wife and family, friends, and community. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, his wife Phyllis Stubblefield Harrison and brother-in-law Chris Costas.

Survivors include:

Siblings; Elizabeth Costas, Larry (Sherry) Harrison, Phil (Dorothy) Harrison, and Mike (Nikki) Harrison

Children; Joan (Robert) Campbell, Lisa (David) Ferguson, Thomas (Angela) Harrison, Laura Jane "Janie" (Beebo) Dalton, Julia (Kevin) Davis, and Sarah (Cody) Brown

Grandchildren; Elizabeth and Harrison Campbell, Lydia and Abigail Ferguson, William Harrison, Lauren Cupp, Alexandra Miranda, and Katie Harrison, Maddox and Madeline Dalton, and Kristin, Austin, Hampton, and Hudson Davis

Great-grandchildren; Sawyer Harrison, Cooper Harrison and Caroline Cupp, and Roman Spaccarotella

Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the many healthcare professionals, including Dr. John Short, Casey Johnson, PA, Misty Stanifer and Hancock Home Health, for their extraordinary love, care, and comfort.

Receiving of friends will be held at Sneedville First Baptist Church Wednesday October 10, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Celebration of Life will be held at the same location on October 11, 2018 beginning at 2 p.m. followed by a graveside service with Reverend Brian Courtney presiding. Pallbearers include his son Thomas J. Harrison, sons-in-law Robert Campbell, David Ferguson, Beebo Dalton, Kevin Davis, and Cody Brown, grandsons Will Harrison, Harrison Campbell, Maddox Dalton and Austin Davis and nephews Stephen Harrison and Travis Harrison. Honorary pallbearers include brothers Larry Harrison, Phil Harrison and Mike Harrison. Interment will be at Harrison Cemetery following the Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the T.J. & Phyllis Harrison Educational Scholarship Fund at First Century Bank. T.J. and Phyllis were lifelong Hancock County residents, educators and active members of Sneedville First Baptist Church. The scholarship, established by the Harrison's 6 children, will be awarded annually to a graduating high school senior from Hancock County.
