KENDALLVILLE - Carl Ronald Peters, 88, of Kendallville, Indiana, died on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 10, 1936, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Clarence and Mable (Crouse) Peters.
On June 26, 1965, in Kendallville, he married Janet Kay Svoboda.
He retired from management with Lyall Electric, working at their plants in South Milford and Albion. He then started CR Construction, flipping homes and did painting with Jim Gehring. He also built fences with Hal Barker.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a longtime member of the Coon Hunters Association of Whitley County.
Carl was a die-hard fan of IU. He enjoyed making walking sticks and shadow boxes and greatly enjoyed his coffee group that has been meeting for 30 years.
Above all, he was an all-time great husband, father, and grandfather, meticulous in anticipating his whole family's needs. His energy and quick-wittedness blankets everyone he came in contact with. He never met a stranger.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Janet Kay Peters, of Kendallville; a daughter, Lori (Peters) Davidson Polly and her husband, Larry Polly, of Kendallville; a son, Jason Peters, of Auburn; two grandchildren, Brent Davidson and Jaelynn Likens; three great-grandchildren, Jayden Davidson, Jaykob Davidson and Lincoln Davidson; a sister, Jean Quaintance, of Fort Wayne; a sister-in-law, Sharon Peters, of Auburn; and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five siblings, Wanda Taglareni, Erline Miller, Clarence Peters, Rosella Wanamaker and Allen Peters.
Visitation is on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, from 3- 6 p.m., at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 S. State St., Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
