AUBURN - Lois J. Mende, age 96, of Auburn, Indiana, formerly of Nevada Mills, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Betz Nursing Home, Auburn, Indiana.
She was born on June 27, 1928, in Nevada Mills, Indiana, daughter of the late Clyde and Mildred (Sanders) Thomas.
She married Rudolph "Rudy" Mende in 1953, and they traveled the world with his occupation. He preceded her in death in 2014.
They lived in Arizona, Indiana, Illinois, Florida, and California, over the years.
Lois loved to do crafts, she was a wonderful seamstress, and always kept a lovely home.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Martin (Christy McBride) Muzzillo, of Garrett, Indiana, and Mitzi (Richard) Hilkey, of Ashley, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Phoenix Denn, Maximus Shumway, Fawn Hilkey, Haley Dennison and Cassidy Stanley; great-great-grandchildren, Kindrix Dennison, Beckett Dennison, Addison Dennison and Camilla Denn; brother, Ed (Rolla) Thomas, of Missouri; and a sister, Patricia Evans, of Fremont, Indiana.
He was also preceded in death by sons, Paul B. Muzzillo and Todd Mende; and sisters, Grace Stockwell, Irene Nichols and Verba Stroh.
Private family graveside services will be held at Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.
