Rose Grate Obituary

GARRETT — Rose M. Grate, 84, of Garrett peacefully passed to Heaven on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was born November 4, 1933, in Pleasant Lake to Gerald R. and Violet I. (Wilcox) Brand.
Rose worked at Albright's Grocery in Corunna for 19 years and the DeKalb County Council on Aging for six years before her retirement.
She attended the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren and loved to read, garden and do crafts.
She married Duane L. Grate on February 8, 1953, in Angola, and he survives in Garrett.
She is also survived by a son and two daughters, Lyle L. (Missy) Grate of Auburn, Deborah K. (Rick) West of Crossville, Tennessee, and Diana M. (Charles) Rommel of Minot, North Dakota; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Margaret I. Daily, Donna J. Collins and Geraldine L. Becker.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo, with Rev. Brad Hardesty officiating. Burial will follow the service in Waterloo Cemetery.
Calling is Monday from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the American Legion Post 178 of Garrett.
