Vernon Ritchie Obituary

WOLCOTTVILLE — Vernon Ritchie, 77, of Stroh, died Saturday, February 10, 2018, at his residence.
He was born December 18, 1940, in Vest, Kentucky, to Cephas and Myrtle (Williams) Ritchie.
On January 25, 1969, in Stroh he married Patty Sue Shepherd. She survives in Stroh.
Mr. Ritchie moved to this area in 1955, coming from Kentucky.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965 during the Vietnam War.
He retired in 2007 from Jayco in Topeka.
Mr. Ritchie attended Community Baptist Church and was a member of American Legion Post 215 in LaGrange.
Vernon enjoyed fishing, especially in bass tournaments, playing Texas Hold'em, and sitting on the front porch talking, telling stories, and sipping coffee. He loved spending time with friends and his grandkids, and was greatly loved by all.
Also surviving are a daughter, Natalie Sue (Brett) Capman of Stroh; two sons, Tony Lynn Ritchie of Stroh and Alan Lee Ritchie of Stroh; two grandchildren, Sierra Kay (Gage) Meyer and Chase Harrison Ritchie; and two sisters, Lois Everage of LaGrange and Carolyn Owens of Stroh.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Combs.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Community Baptist Church, Wolcottville with Pastor Rick Davis and Pastor Clarence Combs officiating. Burial will be at Woodruff Cemetery. Honor guard services will be provided by LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and active duty members of the U.S. Army.
Calling is Wednesday, February 14, 2018, after 2 p.m. at the church. An evening service will be held at 6 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
