John Davis Obituary

John David Davis, beloved father, son, brother, and educator, passed away on July 30, 2025 at the age of 59. Born to Charles B. and Kay (Christian) Davis, John was raised in a home filled with love and strong family values. Though his father, Charles Bedford Davis, preceded him on death, John remained devoted to his mother, Kay, whom he cherished deeply. His dedication to his students was shown in the many stories told to him later from former students. John's greatest pride and joy were his children, Rowan and Sloane. He lit up when talking about them and tried to never miss an opportunity to watch them play the sports they loved. He was their biggest fan on and off the court. He enjoyed coaching his son's basketball team and watching and rooting for his daughter during tennis matches. John was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and the Mizzou Tigers. He had such a passion for history (the subject he taught at Benton High School), especially the Civil War era. John shared a close bond with his sister, Dara Alsbury. The two grew up not only as siblings but as best friends, surrounded by a community of shared friends who became like extended family. He also adored his nieces and nephew playing an active and loving role in their lives John will be remembered for his deep love for his family and the countless lives he touched. He will be greatly missed by all. John was preceded in death by father, Charles Bedford Davis (2014), half brother, Mike Davis, great nephew, Skylar Powell, and niece Jessica Alsbury. Had John in several classes at Western. Excellent student and a real gentleman. He had an outstanding professional life. Assume that he made many positive contributions and impacts on the lives of his students. Sad to see one so young join his ancestors.
