John Schildknecht Obituary

John T. Schildknecht, 91 of Savannah, MO passed away Thursday August 21, 2025 at his home in Savannah. He was born September 4, 1933 south of Whitesville, MO to Frank Truman and Evelyn Lucile (Adams) Schildknecht. He married Shirley Lou Smith June 1, 1952 in Flag Springs, MO and she preceded him in death in 2003. John married Jean Smith in 2004 and she preceded him in death in 2015. John attended Murphy School and graduated from Rosendale High School in 1951. John farmed, worked at Swift's Packing House, he moved to Gold Beach, OR in 1956 where he worked in the lumber industry and propane delivery service. John moved back to Andrew County Missouri 1959, working in the propane delivery service for 12 years. Worked for American Family Insurance in Savannah until retirement in 1993. Served as Scout Master for 5 years in the 1960's. Honorary Savannah member of Mic-o-say, member of the board of Shady Lawn Living Center for many years. Volunteered at the food pantry. Deacon of First Baptist Church. John traveled and camped with the family for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting mushrooms. He is survived by his children, John Randall (Brenda) Schildknecht of St. Joseph, Sheila (Chuck) Thorburn of Savannah, Mark (Karen) Schildknecht of Savannah, Kelli (Allen) Latham of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Rayane (Max) Cook, Devin (Travis) Utz, Nicole Bennett, Aaron (Misty) Schildknecht, Kaitlyn (Andrew) Hofmeister, Taylor (James) Glass, and Austin Latham; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Brooklyn, Elliott, Lila, Kodi, Levi, Isaac, and Theo; great-great-grandchild, Londyn; sister, Joyce McDonald of St. Charles, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wife's, and son Shannon Schildknecht, 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith." Visitation and family receiving hours will be 5:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday August 27, 2025 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Funeral Services will be 10:00am Thursday August 28, 2025 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, MO.
