William Van Soest Obituary
Born on Aug. 18, 1942, to the late William and Marjorie (Bultema) Van Soest in Hammond, Bill proudly remained a lifelong resident of DeMotte. He had a strong work ethic and excelled at poultry farming and agriculture.
Beyond his work, Bill found comfort in simple joys. Fishing, gardening, and morning coffee gatherings with friends filled his spare time. Bill's enduring legacy is marked by his unwavering love and commitment to family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Mary (DeVries), and their loving children, Kathryn (Edward) Tillema and John (Starla) Van Soest. Bill's presence will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Scott) Fieldhouse, Andrew Tillema, William Craig Van Soest, Holly Van Soest, Brad (Ali) Van Soest, Jenna Van Soest, Brent (Angie) Van Soest, Brandon (Morgan) Van
Soest, and Hunter (fiancé Shannon) Van Soest. His great-grandchildren include Owen Van Soest, Daniel and Hannah Fieldhouse, Carter Van Soest, William Thomas Van Soest, Theodore Van Soest, and Rosie Wood.
Bill is now reunited in heaven with his parents and son, William Mark Van Soest.
A celebration of Bill's remarkable life will be held at the First Church of Wheatfield on Saturday, Jan. 20 commencing at 9 a.m. until the service at 11:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor John Hill.
A private interment at Holland Cemetery will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to the Good Neighbor Food Pantry of DeMotte or the American Cancer Society.
