Joseph Scanlon Obituary

JANESVILLE, WIS. - Joe Scanlon passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Janesville, Wisconsin.

A proud graduate of La Crosse Aquinas High School, Class of 1979, Joe built a lifelong career in sales, spending the majority of his professional life in the insurance industry. After retirement, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life - spending time outdoors, fishing, and cultivating what many would call the best tomatoes in the area. Joe often said, "Fishing wasn't life or death it was more important than that," a sentiment that perfectly captured his humor and passion.

Joe's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU team at Mercy Hospital for their compassionate care and support during his final days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Lois Scanlon, and his brother, Tim Scanlon. He is survived by his son, Chris Scanlon; four beloved grandchildren and one great grandchild; his sister, Shari (Jim) Garvalia; brothers, Gregg Scanlon and Steve Scanlon; along with several nieces and nephews.

No services will be held at this time. Memorials in Joe's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org).
