Julia Zebro Obituary

Julia "Julie" Ann Zebro

March 24, 1946 - August 15, 2025

Julia "Julie" Ann Zebro, age 79, passed away peacefully in Tomah, WI, August 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at the Serenity House in Tomah. She was born March 24, 1946, in Wausau, WI, to Hubert and Marie (Diermeier) Boehm.

Julie's journey in life was marked by her commitment to caring for others, a path that led her to a fulfilling career in nursing. She dedicated 30 years of her life to healthcare, beginning her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, then later as a License Practical Nurse, in that role she spent a majority of her career. In every position she held, Julie demonstrated compassion, dedication and a steadfast commitment to caring for others.

On July 22, 1967, Julie married the love of her life, Lee Zebro. Their union was blessed with a family that grew to include two sons, Bill and Mike. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time on their boat.

Julie's interests extended beyond her professional life into a deep engagement with her community. She served as State President of the Jaycettes and dedicated 50 years to the Tomah Tractor Pull. Julie was also active with the Tomah Chamber of Commerce. Her dedication to charitable causes was most evident in her work with the St. Jude’s organization. Julie believed in the power of giving and the importance of hope, and she channeled her energy into supporting the mission of helping those in need.

She is survived by her husband, Lee; her sons, Bill (Kristi Strelcheck) Zebro and Mike (Amy) Zebro; grandchildren: Gerrick (Paige) Zebro, Kate (Spencer) Blaschka, Kyle Zebro, Shawn (Gabby) and Lyndsi (significant other- Hunter); great-grandchildren, Sophia and Aubree; her siblings: Bill (Deb) Boehm, Joyce (Duane) Mews, Steve (Kathy) Boehm and Jan (Charlie) Brown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Marie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025, 10:30 a.m., at Queen of the Apostles Parish in Tomah, WI. Monsignor Richard Gilles will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 4:00 p.m., until 7:00 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m., at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation Thursday from 9:15 a.m., until 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Julie's memory to St. Jude's Memorial Hospital, an organization near and dear to her heart. She was able to raise over a million dollars for St. Jude's by age 35, an accomplishment she was very proud to achieve.
