Joyce Kuznetsky Obituary

JOYCE LYNN KUZNETSKY (nee GOLDSTEIN) Born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 17, 1950, Joyce passed away in Northridge, California on January 5, 2005 after a 10 year courageously fought battle with Breast Cancer. Joyce was the cherished wife of Ronald Kuznetsky and loving mother to Joel and Steven. She was youngest daughter to Ben and Claire Goldstein (deceased). She was "little sis" to Arlene Singer (deceased) and Susan Friedman. Niece to Geraldine Abrams of Cleveland, Ohio. She was special Aunty Joyce to her nieces and nephews, Matthew, Jonathan and Ann Marie Singer, Matthew and Michael Kuznetsky, Michelle and Adam Silverman, and Brian and David Friedman. Cousins and friends so near and dear to her too. The saying, "Make new friends but keep the old..." fit Joyce to a tee. She made friends for life and kept up the relationships through email and telephone. Joyce loved to talk. She was a board member of Amazon Women (a cancer support group online). Always there for everyone. She was an inspirational guest speaker and fashion model for Northridge Hospital cancer support luncheons. Giving a speech that "toured" the country on the internet. Joyce sadly lost the battle with cancer, but she was a "true winner" in her life and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2005, 12:00 noon, Eden Memorial Park, Mission Hills. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory can be made to: The Leavy Cancer Center, Northridge Foundation, 18000 Roscoe Blvd., Northridge, CA 91328 (818) 773-6363.

Hi, this is Joel, Joyce's oldest son. 13 years later and I am just reading these now. I knew my mom was involved in a lot of BC support groups, but to read all of these posts really puts in to perspective the amazingly positive impact she had on so many lives. Not a day goes by where I wish I could have just one more long conversation with her. Positive, warm, loving, outgoing, fun, silly.....always starting up conversations with strangers and putting a smile on their face. I know that she is looking down on all of us and playing candy crush in heaven (she loved her games). She will forever missed, and never forgotten. Mom, I love you so much, you are truly the best

My heart goes out to you, Joyce's family....I knew Joyce as a online and telephone friend from the amazon board. She encouraged me in my own battle with breast cancer as she did so many others. The world has lost a beautiful soul.

Joyce Goldstein Kuznetsky was my dearest friend growing up. We were neighbors and more like sisters than just friends. As we got older and moved on in our lives, we didn't always keep in touch, but for the most part, we did. I will love her forever; she is a part of me. I'll miss her dearly. My heart goes out to Ron, Joel, and Stephen. Joycie, some day, we'll be together, again. Love, Donna

Joyce was my friend, my "sister", a very special person who helped me carry on a jouney none of us wanted. She was one of our sistas who made it not only doable and palatable- but dare I say fun?

I enjoyed every moment I had spent with her- it was time very well spent and also well invested- because I will carry her thoughts and love each day I live. Everyone who knew her will and I am certain that waaaaay in the future somebody will still feel her presence because she has touched so many so deeply and warmly that surely, she will never be gone from us!

In one of Joycie's speeches about her stage iv breast cancer she dared say: "Will you fight the urge to look away from me as I speak? Will you look me in the eye when we talk later, or will you nervously look around? Do I scare you? What AM I talking about? Why am I asking questions like these? Well, it's because I am my own worst nightmare come true-maybe yours too...."

To her I respond~

RAH RAH RAH GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Joycie!!!

I heard from someone online who sent me her condolences and told me-

...."I'll bet Joyce is organizing an Angel party or parade already. What a dynamo wonderful woman. I'm blessed to have known her."

She added "People ask me why I let myself in for this by being involved with groups of stage IV (breast cancer) ladies. The answer is in the Garth Brooks song "The Dance" for me. I wouldn't have missed the Dance even with the pain." (Me neither!)

My friend advised me to "Hold tight my friend. Joyce would tell us to keep our chin up. God bless her with the most comfortable puffy cloud...."

I am certain that He has....

To Ron & family- be sure of my thoughts and ongoing prayers for you all. Give each other a hug for me and take one for yourselves.

I will miss you Joycie~ til we meet again! Pray with us, light candles for us & be with us as we continue- ok?

love you~ Let's ROAR!!!
