Steven Linstrom Obituary

STEVEN "RICK" LINSTROM Born to Rose and Ross Linstrom in Los Angeles, California on January 26, 1940. Rick passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 at his home in Acton with his wife, Jud y, of fifty years at his side. Rick was raised in Culver City and moved with his family to Woodland Hills in 1954. He graduated from Canoga Park High School in 1957. Rick helped his parents establish Woodland Hills Equipment Rentals while also working at General Motors in Van Nuys. After six years of working two jobs, he dedicated his efforts exclusively to the family business. Woodland Hills Equipment Rentals was and remains today a mainstay of the West San Fernando Valley for the last fifty two year s. In 1993 he expanded and opened Palmcaster Equipment Rentals in Palmdale. Rick continued to support the operation of both rental yards even throughout his retirement. Rick also spent the last forty years coaching his children and grandchildren in baseball, softball, football and soccer. Rick touched the lives of many boys and girls throughout his coaching years. He spent eighteen of those years at Westhills Baseball and most recently helping to coach his grandchildren at Sierra Youth Sports in Acton. After living in the San Fernando Valley for forty eight years, Rick and his wife, Judy, moved to Acton where they built a new family home on ten acres of land and called it the Lazy L Ranch. It is here where Rick enjoyed tinkering in his workshop with his grandchildren, planting trees, caring for his property, and sharing time with his family and friends. Rick was a devoted and hard working family man who was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Judy, and their ch ildren; Richard and his wife Terry and grandchildren Joe, Nick and Ashley; Mike and his wife Valerie and granddaughters Kandace and Melissa; Raymond and his wife, Julie and grandchildren Luke and Gabriella; Ross and grandson Frankie; Pattie; and Suzy and her husband Ray and grandchildren Mark and Katelyn. He is also survived by his siblings Loren Linstrom and his wife Jean; Maryellen Ham and her husband Richard; Carolyn Ensley and her husband Phil; Arlene Bellin, many nieces and nephews and countless friend s. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Ross Linstrom. He was our Most Valuable Player and our Number One Fan. This team is going to miss him! A memorial and celebration of Rick's life will be held at his home in Acton on Friday, March 13 at 3:00 p.m. All who knew him are welcome. Contact 818-340-8374 for more information. Mr. Linstrom was a great man. He treated me like another son. Both Mr. & Mrs. Linstrom let my Mother and Me into their family and shared their life with us, from the ball park to camping at Carpenteria or Mammoth to the Holiday's at the house. I will miss Mr. Linstrom as he shared himself with me from practicing ball to sailing his boats to giving me employment at age 14 at the Rental Yard to helping me become a good family man.
Two songs that bring me closer to him and God when I heard of his passing are;
Finally Home by Mercy Me and it says, I'm gonna wrap my arms around my daddy's neck and tell him that I've missed him and tell him all about the man I became.
And the other some is Homesick by Mercy Me and this song say's, I wait to be with you

I am shocked and saddened to hear the news of Mr. Linstrom's passing. I grew up on the same street with their family in West Hills. He coached me for one soccer season and was a man who always had a smile on his face. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Linstrom Family. I haven't seen them in years, but I have fond memories of life on Pondera Cir.

My thoughts are with you all. I always enjoyed hearing a good story from Rick, seeing him at Frankie's games, coaching and supporting the boys, and just seeing him be the husband, father, and grandfather he was. I feel blessed to have known him.
