Ernest Swanson Obituary

September 18, 1946 - September 15, 2023

Dan has gone to be with the Lord on Friday, September 15, 2023 at his home with his wife at his side. He was born September 18, 1946 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to parents Loren Swanson and Mary (Simon) Swanson.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathy (Iverson) Swanson; daughter Christie (Lara Swanson) (Martin) Gerhard, son Stanley (Emily), son Joseph, son Paul (Megan), son Peter (Sarah), daughter Katie (Joshua) Quarterman, son Matthew; 13 beautiful grandchildren; sisters Suzanne Pohle and Karen Munger; and several cousins. Dan loved his children and grandchildren with his whole heart.

When he was 11 years old, his family moved from Iowa to Long Beach, California where he grew up. In 1970, he came to Minnesota to visit relatives where he met Kathy. Shortly after his visit, he moved to Minnesota with his 2-year-old daughter, and in 1972 he and Kathy were married.

In 1985, Dan and Kathy bought her parents' house on Lake Minnetonka and raised their seven children there enjoying all that lake living has to offer.

He was a faithful Christian who lived to express and magnify his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We will be celebrating his life with family and friends with a memorial on Sunday, October 8, at 1 PM at the Church in Brooklyn Park, 6241 West Broadway Avenue, Brooklyn Park, MN 55428.
