Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel-Lamar, CO
Funeral service for Lamar, Colorado resident, Vernon Novell will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November, 29, 2015 at the United Methodist Church, 106 South 6th Ave., Lamar, Colorado. A graveside service will held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs.
Vernon Edgel Norvell, 89, passed away on November 25, 2015 at The Legacy in Lamar. He was born on May 28, 1926 in Ventura, CA to Marvin "Doc" and Anna (Brennan) Norvell. Vernon was married to Mary Alice Trumbo on July 28, 1945.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; and son, Danny.
He is survived by his five children, Nancy Welch of Madison WI, Lawny Dean Norvell of Colorado Springs, CO, Rod (Cecilia) Norvell of Peyton, CO, Sue (Bud) Tipton of Calhan, CO, and Charlie Norvell of Lamar, CO; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and his loving companion, Miriam Crocker.
Vernon was a loving husband, a friend to many, a great story teller and will be remembered for his positive attitude and kindness to others.
Vernon's family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Lamar Area Hospice, Powers Medical Center and The Legacy for their kindness and compassion.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Lamar Area Hospice in care of Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 950 , Lamar, CO 81052.

I was sad to learn that my great friend of over 30 years had died. Though I hadn't seen him in years, not a month goes by without mention of Vern in one conversation or another. In this way, while not now physically with us, Vern is always with us in spirit and will remain so. I owe him a great deal and I do miss our once regular lunches.
I send my best to all the Norvell family and I'm sorry I couldn't have been at the funeral.

You will be forever in my HEART "Gramps". You were the Best Grandpa anyone could ask for. I am so Thankful that my Son, Colin was able to have met the very Best Great-Grandpa in the World. May you now Rest In Peace with the Lord.
