Virgil Cottrill Obituary
LANCASTER: Virgil Cottrill, Jr., 77 of Lancaster went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening September 5, 2012 at the Homestead Care and Rehabilitation Centre. He was a fighter of illness during a lot of his life. Virgil beat death many times. This time it was too much for him to handle. Virgil was born on June 18, 1935 in Lancaster. He enjoyed antiques, baseball, basketball, and Ohio State Football.
Virgil is survived by his wife of 56 years Roberta L. (Scurlock) Cottrill; children: Steve Cottrill, Michael Cottrill, Melissa Cottrill,; grandchildren Ryan, Jesse, Eric, Blake, Natasha, Tyler, Skyler, Zyler; 4 great grandchildren; sister Mary (Richard) Huffine; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Emma Cottrill, brother Harold, nephews Harold Jr. and Larry Hutson, and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00AM Monday September 10, 2012 at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday September 9 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff and his nurses and aides at Homestead and Dr. Wilmer and Cindy from Dialysis for the excellent care given to Virgil. I am sorry to hear about your loss. I remember those days as a kid on Lake St playing whiffleball with Mike and the other kids in the Cottrill's back yard and Mr Cottrill watching us and also those times I spent riding my bike up/down Lake St and I would wave to him as he was sitting on the porch.
