Kynric Pell Obituary
Kyn was born on April 5, 1938, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; the first son of Leonard M. W. Pell and Edna A. (Carlson) Pell. The Pell family moved to Florida in 1956 where he attended West Palm Beach Junior College and then received B.A.S.E., M.S. and Ph.D degrees in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida. Kyn served as an Assistant Professor at Auburn University 1967-1971. Kyn then served as a faculty member of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wyoming 1971-1989, and then became Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department until serving as Dean of the College of Engineering 1996-1999. His research included Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer, and Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing in support of IBM and the US Navy.
Kyn enjoyed travelling, either flying a Cessna or driving across country, he made and shared many memories of work-related and family trips. He also embarked on an addition to his family cottage in Ontario which has been a work-in-progress since his retirement in 1999.
Kyn is survived by his children, Kymberly M. Riddle (Robert) of Laramie, Kynric M. Pell, Jr. of Sebastian, FL and Shannyn L. Adkins (Steve) of New Braunfels, TX; and Grandsons Robert Cody Riddle, Jeremy Adkins, Kasey Riddle (Logan), Brandyn Adkins (Georgie) and Kynric M. Pell, III. He was predeceased by his brothers, Garry and Byron Pell and sister Sharon Meling.
A celebration of Kyn's life will be planned for the summer of 2023.
In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to the Dean Kynric M. Pell Engineering Scholarship at the University of Wyoming Foundation or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
