Gail Andrews Obituary

April 6, 1941 - August 6, 2021 Gail Ann Andrews, age 80, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, following a brave battle with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James R. Andrews, their two sons, Michael and Mark, their wives, Patricia (Aste) and Anne (Dillon) and five grandchildren. Gail was born to Gladys and Harold Wayne ("Bozie") Bozorth in Los Angeles, California, on April 6, 1941.Gail was drawn to all things related to the arts, performance and style. At an early age she played the organ in her local First Baptist Church. As time passed she became an accomplished pianist. She was an active member of the Westchester Highschool class of 1958, including student council, performing arts and song leader. Gail's love of music is evident in her tireless work with many performing arts organizations, including her time spent as the head of the Events Committee with the Center for the Art of Performance ("CAP") at UCLA (formerly known as UCLA Live). She was an active member and avid supporter of the Center Theatre Group, The Blue Ribbon of the Music Center, the LA Philharmonic and The Council of the Library Foundation. She was also on the Board of the Carmel Bach Festival and co-chair of the Friends of Robinson Gardens' annual garden tour, among other endeavors. At age 54, Gail met the first of the five grandchildren she would eventually have, and her passion transformed. Gail became the most enthusiastic of grandmothers, or as she was known to them "Nana." For many years, the family gathered for a week at an Oceanside beach house where Gail played games with her grandchildren, and orchestrated incredible dinners. In her last days she surrounded herself with photographs of her grandchildren.Gail began dating Jim while attending UCLA. Though well-traveled and relocating to Century City, her "home" was always Mandeville Canyon with its Sycamore trees, wild animals and memories.Gail's family would like to thank all of her amazing caregivers. No memorial for her is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to your favorite charity.
