Gregory Ehlers Obituary

June 11, 1947 - August 12, 2024 Gregory Ehlers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 12, 2024 at the age of 77 surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 11, 1947, he was a man of great character and integrity. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Stephanie Ehlers, with whom he shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. He never missed an opportunity to be present at family gatherings, celebrations, and milestones.
Greg was born in Berwyn, Illinois, and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After his father Louis Ehlers was given the opportunity to open a Cadillac dealership in Los Angeles, Lou, his wife Eleanor, and their children Karen and Greg relocated to California where Greg attended the University of Southern California. Lou Ehlers Cadillac was one of the most successful dealerships in the United States, and Greg partnered with his father to run the dealership for 30 years. Greg was honored as a Cadillac Master Dealer for many years and served on the GM President's Advisory Council. He was never a joiner but was continually sought after as a leader.
A passionate golfer, Greg could often be found on the course, enjoying the game and the camaraderie of his friends. Indian Wells held a special place in his heart, where he spent 25 joyful years at The Reserve Club. Hawaii was his favorite getaway where he and Stephanie created countless memories together.
Greg was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for those he loved. He will be remembered for his warm smile, gentle spirit, and sense of humor. He is surely enjoying a steak, a nice glass of wine, and telling jokes and old stories with his friends and family in the promised land.
Greg is survived by his wife Stephanie, his children Jennifer Pomeroy (Matt) and Kevin Ehlers (Megan), his grandchildren Ashley Pomeroy, Jack Pomeroy and Marian Ehlers, his nephew Brian Persinger (Claudia), his stepdaughters Leanne Snaer (Brian), Lisa Doheny (Ryan), and Laura Dahlman (Matt Dugally), Stephanie's grandchildren (Lindsay, John, Brooke, Aidan, Kylie, and Will), and many friends who will miss him dearly. His legacy of love, family, and friendship will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Greg's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. He was a remarkable man and his memory will be cherished forever.
