Jerilyn Scott Rubin

1943 - 2022

June 23, 1943 - February 10, 2022 Jerilyn Scott Rubin died peacefully in her home in Studio City after a prolonged illness. She is one of three sisters from Elizabeth, New Jersey who had varied careers in the entertainment industry. Her life mirrored an episode of "Mad Men."
Jeri graduated from an all-girls high school in Elizabeth, New Jersey and was on to a secretarial school. She would take the Port Authority bus from Elizabeth into Manhattan with just enough money for the fare home. A broken high heel or a run in her nylons meant - no lunch. As stenography was not her strong suit, she landed a job answering phones at the modeling agency, Plaza 5. She soon was one of the top "bookers" of many of the legendary models of the Sixties. She recalled Veruschka stopping traffic on Madison Avenue as she crossed the street in gazelle like strides.
Jeri went on 'rep" the leading advertising photographer, Henry Sandbank, in many iconic corporate ad campaigns. In particular, she recalls shocking the arch "button down" admen on a De Beers Diamond spot who were agonizing for hours over which model to choose. Jeri clarified the matter, "one you want to marry, the other you want to f… "! She wasn't fired, and the ad was a success.
In the late sixties, Jeri joined her older sister, Carol Ann Bushnell in San Francisco where her brother-in-law was co-director of the American Conservatory Theater. Jeri found a mentor in Ann Brebner who cast many of the San Francisco centric movies of the late '60s and early '70s. She can be seen in the last scene of the movie "Bullitt." Her younger sister, Debra Lee Scott, joined her sisters and got her first acting job as the Dead Body in "Dirty Harry."
Jeri moved to Los Angeles to cast and produce commercials and helped open the west coast offices of the New York talent agency, STE, founded by Broadway agent, Clifford Stevens. She was involved in the early careers of many of today's well known actors. She continued to work as an agent at the Paradigm agency until the mid 90's when she formed her own office, Jeri Scott Management. She was pleased and proud to help bring the Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard to American audiences.
Jeri was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Mark Jay Rubin, MD and her daughter Evan Scott Rubin.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Carol Ann (Scotty) Bushnell and Debra Lee Scott.
We will miss, and we will always love our self described, "just a street kid from Elizabeth, New Jersey!"
