I was calling Joe to see if he wanted to have lunch and found that his phone was disconnected. It was only today, through the internet, that I had found he had passed. Joe was such a wonderful, caring, unselfish person. I remembered he talked about helping a friend of his who was dying and did not have anyone.
He was one of the coolest over 80 I know. At 89, a few months before his death, when we met up for lunch, he pulls up in a sports car. You can't get cooler than that!
He made everyone laugh at 50 First Dates. He had natural talent.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1SVxJZTgI4 (Joe at :15) As I post this site on my FB wall, my friends have said how he was funny. I wanted to work with him with my own shoot and he was open to it. I just wished I did not wait.
He was very interesting to talk to. We talked about how he and his family were sent to the Japanese interment camp. I found it interesting that he said he did not have any resentment and he understood. I kept telling him that he should write his memoirs but he was very hesitant.
He is such a special person and I will miss him dearly. I wished I was there at the funeral. RIP my friend.
