Marjorie Lehrer Obituary

LEHRER, Marjorie Lois Marj Lehrer, born in Peoria, IL on July 28, 1927, passed away on September 20, 2008. "She walks in beauty and grace," best describes Marj. Moving to Los Angeles from Peoria, she married and earned a teaching degree. In spite of an active and energetic life as a single mother of three daughters, being a social person and a LAUSD teacher, she touched many lives. So attractive in appearance and spirit, Marj often received attention when walking into a crowded room. After retirement, she became an inveterate traveler, visiting many countries on her own and later as a member of Friendship Force. She was active in three Brandeis groups, three Democratic clubs, still finding time for a YMCA water exercise class, plus substitute teaching until June, 2008. Her email address of "busymarj" truly fit. She is survived by her loving life partner, Jerry Drucker, loving daughters, Andrea Lehrer and Alison Harmon, four granddaughters, three grandsons, two great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons. A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Sunday at a private residence. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Marj's name to the Cancer Society.
