R.H. Kauffman Obituary

R.H. Kauffman passed peacefully after a long illness. Pioneer of the jet age, devoted husband to Ronny for 64 years, proud father of two sons, Andrew and Richard and his daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Ellen, and exemplar to his grandchildren Daniel, Laura, Hannah and Ezra. Born in Los Angeles to Charles and Bertha Kauffman, owners of a small grocery store, Richy was a child violinist who performed on radio, attended Venice High and graduated from MIT having studied chemical engineering. Richy was an engineer at Douglas Aircraft during World War II then built Voi-Shan and VSI into an industry leader in aerospace fasteners. In body, Richy was a sailor, golfer, and physical fitness devotee. In mind, he loved debating issues, languages, and religion of any sort. He was predeceased by his wife, his sister Sally and his half-brother Leo. Services will be held at 12:30 on Tuesday, September 23, at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles or to any charity of choice. Malinow & Silverman Mortuary, (800)710-7100.
