Robert Kurtz Obituary

Robert (Rob) Joshua Kurtz, 52, of Las Vegas Nevada passed away on March 14th, 2021from Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. Robert is survived by his beloved parents Joel and Eileen Kurtz, his cherished son Jayden, his sister Mindy Straus and her sons Will and Jesse, his brother and sister-n-law Steven and Lisa Kurtz and their children Luke and Ella, aunts Fran Kurtz and Peggy Steinhause as well as countless loving cousins, dear friends, and Jayden's mother Lori Naka. Robert was born in Los Angeles California on Sept 19, 1968, the youngest of three children of Eileen and Joel Kurtz. Robert was an active child who loved sports, especially baseball. He played for several little league teams as well as for Beverly Hills High School and San Diego State University baseball programs. After college, Rob became a valued team member at Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Beverly Hills, California.Robert moved to Las Vegas in 2004, where he built a strong community. His greatest love was his son, Jayden. Rob was devoted to raising a strong, confident, and kind young man. He relished in his son's accomplishments and efforts. They were the best of friends and shared a passion for baseball and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rob and Jayden loved walking their dogs, playing golf, and working out together. Rob loved coaching Jayden's baseball teams and offered guidance and support to many children. He was well respected and loved by his fellow coaches and an inspiration to other dads. Family connections were sacred to Robert, and he always made time to lend an ear or offer encouragement. His smile and energy lit up a room and instantly made others feel welcomed and cared for. Rob's wicked sense of humor brought laughter and joy to all who knew him. The only thing bigger than his smile was his heart; so full of compassion and love. He was generous in spirit and action – often hosting holiday gatherings for those who had nowhere else to celebrate. Rob was dedicated to his work as operations manager at Drai's After Hours Nightclub, where he cultivated lasting friendships. His friends became extensions of his family. Robert loved others deeply and was deeply loved.May his memory be a blessing.Due to COVID 19 Celebration of Life plans will be announced at a later date. The family has requested that flowers not be sent. In lieu of flowers, Robert's family will select an organization to receive donations for research and treatment of Cholangiocarcinoma.

To the family of Robert Kurtz,
I did not know Robert, but I saw his obituary in the LA Times. Thank you for mentioning that he died of bile duct cancer. My Mother died of that in 2016 and before her death,, I had never heard of this cancer. Please let me know what organization you choose for donations for research into this rare cancer. My heart is with your family.
