Sylvia Zasser Matanky

October 2, 1927 - April 18, 2016 Sylvia Matanky, 88, of Woodland Hills, CA, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2016 after a brave and well-fought battle with stomach cancer. She was born on October 2, 1927 in Chicago, IL to David and Sophie Zasser. On March 2, 1952 She began a 58 year Marriage to Doctor Seymour Matanky who predeceased her. During the first year of marriage Sylvia lived in Japan, raising her eldest child, Cindy, while her husband was a doctor in the Korean war. Upon returning stateside the family relocated to Los Angeles, CA and added 4 more children; Jami, Gary, Tamy, and Randy. Sylvia had a successful career in the flower business, but it was later in life that she found joy working as an extra on major films and television series, meeting some of her favorite actors. Sylvia is also survived by her older sister, Libby Long of Phoenix AZ, and by her 8 Grandchildren who were the source of her truest pleasure. Services will be held at Eden Memorial Park Cemetery 11500 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA 91345 on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 3:00pm.
