Antonia Cobos

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Antonia "Toñita" Ortiz Cobos, age 84, of Anthony entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 20, 1929 in Ottawa, Kansas to Faustino and Julia Torres Ortiz. "Toñita" as she was fondly known to family and friends was employed for fifteen years with the Gadsden Independent School District as a cafeteria worker and was member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include three sons, Ismael Cobos, Lupe Cobos and wife Kim all of Anthony, N.M., Fidencio Cobos and wife Emily of Anthony, Texas; five daughters; Alejandra Galarza of Anthony, Texas, Yolanda Cienfuegos and Irma Cobos both also of Anthony, N.M., Rosa Gose and husband John of San Miguel, Leticia Gonzales and husband Greg of Las Cruces; two brothers, Pedro Ortiz and Jorge Ortiz; two sisters, Ricarda O. Miñor and Petra O. Zarrato all of Mexico. Other survivors include nineteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews. Toñita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilberto Cobos in 1969, a son, Gilberto Cobos in 2010, a daughter, Maria Cobos in 1953 and a sister, Juanita Morales. Visitation for Mrs. Cobos will begin 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Avenue where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m.. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Holy Mass of Resurrection at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 in the same church with Reverend Andres Alava officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Anthony Cemetery where she will be laid to rest in the family plot. Serving as casket bearers will be her grandsons, Gilberto Fidel, Jose Gilberto and Esteban Cobos, Javier Galarza, Roger Gonzales, and Leonard Cienfuegos.
