Gerald Strauss Obituary

Gerald A. Strauss, age 73, died Friday, August 12, 2016 at his home in Las Cruces.
Gerry is survived by his high school sweetheart, Ursula. Children, Amy (Paul), Hagen (Carly), Kelly (Lynn), Douglas (Denise), Jeffrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and June Strauss.
He leaves behind several grandchildren, Madeleine, Helena, Domenic, Phoenix, Tenika, Tanner, Evan, Melissa, Christian and Kaylie.
He graduated from El Paso High School in 1961 and UTEP in 1966. He attended Baylor Law School. He was a member of SAE Fraternity.
He joined the Marine Corps in college.
Gerry was the owner of the Strauss Cattle Company and active in the sale of Water Rights.
Prior to joining the Peace Corps Ursula and Gerry were Globe Trotters. His friend Mick named him Dr. Remote and Ursula became Mrs. Remote.
In 2007 Gerry and Ursula joined the Peace Corps and they served in Ecuador from 2007 - 2009.
Gerry returned to Ecuador in 2011 and bought a cattle ranch on the coast of Ecuador and he spent part of year at his ranch.
Those who wish may make a contribution to Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces.
Services are planned at a later date.
