Manuel Martel Baca, age 69, of Las Cruces passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017. He was born June 9, 1948 in San Francisco de Conchos, Chihuahua, México to Domingo and María de los Ángeles Martel Baca. Manuel served his country honorably in the United States Air Force where he received the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with two oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two oak leaf cluster and Air Force Commendation Medal.
Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of twenty-two years, Gladys Samaniego Baca of the family home; two sons, Marcos Baca (Danielle) of Cairo, Egypt, Daniel Baca of Little Rock, CO; a daughter, Cristina DuVall of Longview, WA; three brothers, Zeferino Baca (Juve) of El Paso, TX, Benny Baca (Romy), and Abel Baca all of Las Cruces; two sisters, Julie Ball also of Las Cruces and Maria Elena Rubio (Albert) of Menifee, CA. Other survivors include two grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; a great-niece, Nicole Escalante and a great-nephew, Fabian Escalante.
Visitation for Mr. Baca were held on Tuesday (yesterday) July 18, 2017 at 6 PM. The Funeral Service is scheduled at 10 AM Wednesday (today), July 19, 2017 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300, E. Boutz Road. Concluding Service and Interment will follow at 2:30 PM that same afternoon in Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Holloman Air Force Base Steel Talons Honor Guard.
Serving as casket bearers will be family and friends.
