Robert Wenrich Obituary

Robert "Red" M. Wenrich Sr. NEWMANSTOWN Robert "Red" M. Wenrich Sr., 76, of 144 N. Sheridan Road, Newmanstown, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at his residence. Born in Reading, Pa., on August 13, 1930, son of the late Matthew and E. Cherie (Shalters) Wenrich. He was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was the first person hired at Alcoa Lebanon, Pa., where he retired in 1990. In the 1950s he owned the Citgo Gas Station, Newmanstown. He then worked at E.J. Lavino Sheridan; Reading Metals, Tuckerton; and the Chit Chat Foundation, Wernersville. He was a member of the Richland American Legion Post No. 880; a lifetime member of the Womelsdorf VFW Post 6558; member of the Newmanstown Athletic Club. A car enthusiast, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and his many cars every day. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, building model cars, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He was a very caring father to, two daughters, Wendy, wife of Noel Hertzog of Newmanstown, Pa., Maureen, wife of Roy Miller of Newmanstown, Pa.; one son, Barry, husband of Debra Wenrich of Ladson, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; three greatgrandsons. He was preceded in death by a son Robert M. Wenrich Jr. in 2003. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown Pa. Viewing Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment at Millcreek Memorial Cemetery, Newmanstown, Pa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mrs. Wendy Hertzog, 33 W.
