Minnie Smail Obituary
Born at home in Distant on December 11, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Walter "Mike" Guthrie and Florence Allen Guthrie.
Minnie was a graduate of the New Bethlehem High School.
She married the late Marlin R. "Smick" Smail Jr. on Dec. 12, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2014.
Minnie loved cooking, baking, housekeeping and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed spending her winters in Florida for the last 15 years.
Survivors include a son, Bruce (DeeDee) Smail; and a daughter, Vicki Adams; four grandchildren, Keli (Terry) Reddinger, Jennifer (Justin) Moore, Kara (Mat) Lechene and Mitchell Smail; nine great-grandchildren, Andrew (Brooke), Emma, Nicholas, Ava, Trenton, Madisyn, Elliott, Emery and Sidni; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hudson and Bowen.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Eugene Walter Guthrie; infant brother, Robert Guthrie; sister, Madalene Herbert; and a son-in-law, Bruce Adams Jr.
Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Oakland Church of God, located at 122 Kohlersburg Road in Distant.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Jimmy Swogger officiating.
Interment will take place in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Minnie's name to the Oakland Church of God "Blessing Bags," P.O. Box 40, Distant, PA 16223.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the staff at Water Run, McKinley Health and AseraCare Hospice for taking care of Minnie.
Arrangements are at the direction of the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service of New Bethlehem.
