Catherine "Cathy" (Phillipps) Running, peacefully passed away on May 26, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband Bruce, daughters Michelle Running and Amy (Greg) Axness, grandchildren Molly and Tyler Axness, grandfurbabies Charlie and Jake, sisters Janny (Joe) DiPaola, Georgeann (Jack) Connaughton, Joyce (Steve) Running, Jean (Rick) Antony, and more family and friends.
One of her great joys was cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events. She was an avid reader, and a lover of the great outdoors, finding solace and adventure in camping trips at the lake. A talented crafter, her creations brought joy to many, and her legendary banana bread will forever be the gold standard by which all others are measured.
Cathy had a way of making you feel seen and understood, often expressed through her legendary hugs – warm, comforting embraces that could melt away any worry. She possessed a rare gift for peacemaking, always seeking harmony and understanding, her presence calming to those around her.
Though her physical presence is gone, Cathy's spirit will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mayo Cancer Center, a cause close to Cathy's heart.
