DeMaine E. Noskowiak, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 12 at Comforts of Home in Hudson, WI, and was reunited with his beloved wife, Marilyn, in Heaven. Born on March 17, 1936, in Antigo, WI, DeMaine lived a full and joyful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.
DeMaine was known for his generous spirit, positive attitude, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones. He graduated from Antigo High School and served honorably in the United States Navy.
Starting a shoe repair apprenticeship with his uncle at age 10, DeMaine became a skilled cobbler and worked for 50 years at his shop, DeMaine's Shoe Repair, in Eau Claire, WI. His strong work ethic and friendly demeanor made him a trusted figure in the community.
DeMaine cherished quality time with family and friends. He loved dancing with Marilyn, going for walks, bowling, playing cards, and talking football. He adored his children and their spouses and could talk for days about his beloved grandchildren. He was known for his kindness, always helping neighbors and making everyone feel welcome and loved.
He is survived by his children, Patricia (Wes), Douglas (Pam), and Carrie (Ryan); his grandchildren, Heidi (John), Joseph, Lindsay, Nickolas, Jackson, and Anna; and his great-grandchildren, James and Leo.
DeMaine was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, always putting his family first, praying for them often, and creating countless cherished memories. He never said goodbye without saying, "I love you."
A memorial service to celebrate DeMaine's life will be held on Saturday, March 15 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona, WI. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12: noon, followed by the memorial service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. For those unable to attend in person, the memorial service can be viewed virtually via the following TEAMS link: shorturl.at/5aU5w. A graveside service with full military honors will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m.
His family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Comforts of Home for their compassionate care.
