Kay Lentz Obituary

Kay A. Lentz

June 3, 1952 - August 12, 2025

Kay Ann (Saxton) Lentz age 73, of Menomonie, WI was welcomed to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Mary's Campus.

Kay was born on June 3rd, 1952, in Eau Claire, WI to Russell and Nora (McKay) Saxton. Kay grew up in the area and attended school at Forest Center, a one-room schoolhouse, Little Elk Creek School, and graduated from Elk Mound High School in 1970. Kay furthered her education and received a phlebotomy certificate from Chippewa Valley Technical College. She completed an internship in Gallup, NM and then worked full-time as a phlebotomist at the Cumberland Memorial Hospital.

Kay married Donald Lentz on September 14th, 1974, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dallas, WI. Together, they worked at their family business, Lentz Fertilizer Incorporated, for 48 years until they sold in 2017. They had two children: Levi and Lecia.

Kay loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed traveling, trying new things, sharing time and knowledge with her family, attending her five grandchildren's activities, visiting family and friends, attending church, and deepening/sharing her faith.

Kay's bubbly personality and sassy whit resulted in new friendships wherever she went! Her infectious laugh and sparkle in her eyes will be deeply missed.

Kay is survived by her husband Donald of Menomonie, two children Levi (Kari) Lentz of Menomonie, Lecia (Matthew) Parker of Wadena, MN. She is also survived by her five beloved (and taller than her) grandchildren Lily, Abby, Raleigh, Kora and Eve, brothers- and sisters-in law Robert Lentz, Larry (Judy) Lentz, Richard (Sue) Lentz, Carol Saxton, and Yolanda Saxton, many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Nora, siblings Raleigh, Marvin and Agnes Grutt, sister-in-law Leondra Lentz, brother-in-law Herb Grutt, father- and mother-in law Woodrow and Ann Lentz.

Family and friends are invited to a wake on Wednesday, August 20th from 4:00-7:00 pm at Olson's Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday August 21st, 2025, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Geoffery Kieta officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will be provided after the service with the burial to follow at Forrest Center Cemetery in Menomonie, WI.
