Helen Gulish, 99, formerly of Cadogan, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, in Snyder Memorial Health Care in Marienville.
She was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Sagamore, Pa., to John and Mary Dolinsky Oslick.
A member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Cadogan, she volunteered at the church and sang in the choir. In her earlier years, Helen, was very active in the senior citizens and enjoyed playing bingo. She was a lifelong resident of her community.
Survivors include daughters: Karen and Joe Kusmierek, of Champion, Ohio, Jo-Ann and Paul Bielski, of Maryland and Andrea and David Schwille, of Leeper; grandchildren: Amy, Paul, James, Theresa and Jennifer; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Gulish, who passed away March 28, 1977; granddaughter, Regina; sisters: Mary, Susie, Veronica, Annie and Ann; and brothers: John, Andrew and George.
Also, we would like to thank the nurses and CNA's that took care of Helen, the past three years and a special thanks to the people in this photograph: Misti "Number 1" Kelly, Bobbi Bowen and Stacey Colvin.
While she was in a period of declining physical health, she kept her dry sense of humor, until the end. Unfortunately she couldn't escape the coronavirus. She was a devout Roman Catholic and while at the nursing home was known to challenge the visiting pastors on their knowledge of the scriptures. In her last days she said, "She was going to get her wings and her and her granddaughter, Regina, were going to fly around Heaven together."
Private services will be held by the family.
Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mantini Funeral Home Inc., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City.
