Maxine V. Clever

Maxine V. Clever, 85, of Kittanning, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at Rivercliff Terrace. She was born March 5, 1926, in Templeton, a daughter of William H. and Marie (McCain) Schawl. Maxine lived in the area all her life and was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church. She devoted herself wholly to her family and loved being a wife and mother. Maxine was a wonderful homemaker and nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. She loved cooking and was especially talented at baking pies. Maxine also enjoyed working on various crafts and embroidering. Her family will always remember the love and care she had for them, and she will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Linda Richardson and husband, Turney, of Kittanning, Karen Walker and husband, Al, of Kittanning, and Lisa McGuire and husband, John, of Freeport; grandsons, Matthew Richardson and wife, Jennifer, and Jeremy Richardson and wife, Shanan; great-grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Michael and Alex Richardson; brother, Blair Schawl, of Templeton; and sister, Nancy Gouin, of Asheville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 53 years, Harold E. "Bud" Clever, who died Jan. 10, 2000; brothers, Samuel, George, Walter, Donald and Clifford "Bud" Schawl; and sisters, Evelyn Schawl, Mildred Leard, Jean Schreckengost and Janet Shotts. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at BAUER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Geoff Reppart officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Wayne Township, Armstrong County.
