Samuel R. "Monkey" Plazio, 64, of Vandergrift, died Monday, June 6, 2022 in a work related accident.
Born July 14, 1957, in New Kensington, he had been employed by PNC park as a grounds keeper, Kensington Mfg working in the receiving department and currently Shanahan Transportation System in Pittsburgh.
Sam was Catholic by Faith, he enjoyed playing cards, playing with his dogs Baylee and Bella, he had coached for a Championship Little League team when his son was younger, enjoyed attending rock concerts with his son, he had also taken his father to all the home Pirates Baseball games and was well known with all the kids as the best Band parent and chaperone there was.
Survivors include his mother Eleanor Kay Donaldson Plazio of Vandergrift, his son Steven Plazio of Pennsylvania Furnace, a sister Debra (Russell) Ferringer of Indiana, his nephew Christopher King and his loving partner Janel Lavorini of North Huntingdon.
He is preceded in death by his father Francis J. Plazio in 2016 along with his dog Raven. Family and friends will be received Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 3 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m., with Father Thomas More Sikora, O.S.B., officiating in the Dunmire Kerr & Rowe Funeral Home, Inc., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift.
Interment will be in St. Gertrude Catholic Cemetery, Vandergrift.
