Columbus, Georgia - Ms. Bennie Lee Key, 72, of Columbus, passed Monday, August 2, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be tomorrow (Friday) from 2 to 5 PM at the funeral home. Bennie was born in Hatchechubee, AL, daughter of the late Fred Key, SR and Queen Ester Key. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was active with its Missionary, Seniors on the Move and the Clothing Bank. Bennie was a CNA for the Medical Center for 39 years. She was preceded in death by one sister, Bennie Mae Johnson and one brother, George Washington, Key. Her survivors include: one son, Christopher (Cassandra) Jermaine Key; two daughters, Katherine (James) Gamble and Bernice (James) Gary; nine brothers, Fred Key, JR, Luther Key, Melvin Key, Davis Clark Key, Carl (Mozelle) Fortson, Douglas Edward Key, Ken L. Key, Terry Key and Kelvin Key; three sisters, Victoria Key, Jeniece (Alvin) Bass and Johnnie Bailey; four grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and devoted friends.
