Phenix City, AL- Mrs. Hattie Ford James, affectionately known as "Shoe", 86, of 216 17th Avenue So., Phenix City, AL, passed Monday, December 23, 2013 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 12 noon EST, Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church with Rev. Jeffery Dancy, Sr., pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. John A.M.E. Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 - 8 p. m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mrs. James was born March 15, 1927 in Russell County, AL to the late Abraham Watson and Lizzie Ford Tillman. She had been employed for over 40 years at First Presbyterian Church, Columbus, GA.
Survivors include one son, Joseph (Dorothy) James, Sr. of Montgomery, AL; two daughters, Christine Ryles of Phenix City, AL and Debra Gail (Jackie) Sumbry of Montgomery, AL; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
