I met Hazel in my American Government class and was impressed by her courage and poise. Focused and determined, she was an excellent student who was also a fine artist.
Though I did not know her personally afterwards, I know she was a fine citizen, involved and concerned, and as such a model to all of us.
She will be remembered fondly.

Daune - I'm so sorry to hear about Hazel. I had the enormous pleasure of serving on the Mayor's Committee for the Handicapped under her leadership. A tireless advocate for handicapped citizens in our community, she inspired us to open our eyes to barriers and work to open our city to all. Columbus is a much better place because of her. May she rest in eternal peace.

Daune and family-
I am so sorry for your loss. I am so thankful that I had the privilege of meeting and taking care of Hazel. She had the funniest personality and was a very strong woman. She really made an impact on me. Daune- when Hazel was with me, she kept telling me how much she loved you and how proud she was of you. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
