COLUMBUS, GEORGIA- Joann Ito, 84, of Columbus, Georgia died Monday, October 8, 2012 at Brookside Glen. She passed peacefully at 3:07 a.m. with members of her family at her bedside.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church with Rev. Marsha Emery officiating. A private burial will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery according to Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, Columbus.
Mrs. Ito was born February 21, 1928 in Seoul, Korea, and she lived the past thirty-four years in Columbus. She retired as the assistant plant manager from OMI Georgia in Columbus.
Mrs. Ito was a member of Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church. She was educated in Korea and graduated from college in Seoul with a degree in English. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shigeru Ito and a son, Ronald S. Ito, Jr., MD who is survived by his wife, Mary.
Survivors include her children, Evelyn Stahl (Bill), Herbert H. Ito (Cathy), Edward B. Ito (Hiroko), Grace S. Conner (Michael), and Robert Ito (Rick), and eleven grandchildren, Benjamin Stahl MD, Christina Stahl, Andrew Ito, Daniel Ito, Audrey Ito, Traci Ito MD, Chad Meeks, Jasmine Ito, Stephen Ito, Blake Ito, and Lily Ito.
We, the family, wish to express our appreciation for the love and attention that was given to our mother by the staff at Brookside Glen, Vista Care Hospice, and Franciscan Woods.

She will be severely missed. We enjoyed having her as a resident at the facility. Our condolences go out to the entire family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mr. and Mrs. Ito were long time owners of Ito Cleaners on Buena Vista Rd. I met them through the cleaning business as a landlord and friend. They were diligent business owners and very nice folks to work with. Mrs. Ito was active in her church and always telling me about her children whom she dearly loved. The Ito family definitely made a lasting impression in Columbus. My condolences to the family and friends. They will be surely missed.
