Monroe, , NJ- Latrelle E. Harrell passed away on January 25th in Monroe, NJ, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law. She was a long-time resident of Columbus, GA, and moved to Monroe one and half years ago. She was born December 5, 1931 in Rome, GA, daughter of May and Carl Espy Sr.
Mrs. Harrell graduated from Jordan High School (1950). She was elected "Most Studious Girl" in her graduation class and her pursuit of education remained throughout her entire life. She graduated from Columbus College (Columbus State University) and was a career employee in the Civilian Personnel Division at Fort Benning. GA until her retirement in 1992. She was active in the Edgewood Methodist Church, now Living Grace United Methodist.
Mrs. Harrell found joy in attending plays at the Springer Opera House, gardening, interior design, and volunteering at her church and other organizations.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peyton E. Harrell, and her brother Paul Espy. She is survived by her son; Brett Harrell, daughter-in-law Syndie, grandson Shayne Harrell of U.S. Military Academy, West Point, brother Carl Espy Jr. (Shirley) of Atlanta and sister Louise Prescott of Southbury, CT, along with nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the Fort Mitchell National Cemetery at a later date, notification to be published by the funeral home.
