Reba Laverne Cheney September 4, 1927 - December 3, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA — Mrs. Reba Laverne Cheney, 82, of Columbus, GA. died Thursday December 3, 2009 at Vista Care Hospice at Franciscan Woods. Memorial services will be held 11 AM Monday, December 7, 2009 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. Buddy Cooper and Rev. Daryl Brown officiating. Burial will follow at 2 PM in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. Mrs. Cheney was born September 4, 1927 in Conyers, GA to the late Olerrie Clyde and Minnie Lou Cooper Farmer. Mrs. Cheney graduated from Young Harris College and Georgia State College for Women. She was a retired school teacher having taught schools in Ohio, Lithonia, and Georgia, including here in Columbus. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence W. Cheney, Columbus, GA; her son, Walter M. Cheney, El Paso TX; daughter, Susan M. Cheney, Columbus, GA; sister, Marian Hardy; sister-in-law, Muriel Farmer; nephews, Bobby Farmer, Clyde Farmer, Jr, Jerry Farmer, Bill Hardy, and Ken Hardy; and a niece, Diane Weaver.
