Columbus, Ga- Robert Sammie (Bob) Gallimore, Jr., 60, of Columbus, GA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his residence.
A celebration of his life will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Beallwood Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Duncan officiating. A private interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. Gallimore was born November 27, 1951 in Murray, Kentucky, son of the late Robert Sammie Gallimore, Sr. and Norma Jean Flood Thorning. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Columbus State University and worked locally in real estate and business management. He was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the Celebration Choir. Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. He trusted Christ with all his heart and had a gift for bringing joy into the lives of others.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Gallimore and his sisters, Tammy Lewis and Laurie Barlow.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years Donna Gallimore of Columbus, GA; son, Jesse Gallimore; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Grace and Rob Hall; brothers, Dennis (Deanie) Gallimore, Kevin Thorning, Victor Thorning, Jeffrey Thorning and Michael Thorning; sisters, Jeanna Powell and Tracy Gallimore; and his best friend, Fred Kelsey.
Those so desiring may make contributions in his memory to Beallwood Baptist Church Student Ministry or the Beallwood Helping Hands Ministry, 4650 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904.
The family offers special thanks to the wonderful staff at John B. Amos Cancer Center and Columbus Hospice. Their kindness will always be remembered.

Bob was a true friend and you could always depend on him to be there if you needed anything! I was always happy to see him come into a room for he never came without his genuine smile, his contagious positive attitude and a joke or two or three. I will always remember our days at Sertoma, his entertaining guitar at our annual pool parties and his old blue van! A light left this earth when Bob passed but his light and his spirit will burn a thousand times brighter in heaven as his new job as angel looks out for Donna, Jessie and Mary Grace. Thank you for your years of friendship! May you rest in peace.

I remember fondly the days I was in the Muscogee Sertoma Club with Bob. We had some of the best times when we sold Christmas trees for the club in front of the Airport Thruway Walmart. I was honored and truly blessed to have known Bob and know that he has just gone on ahead and will be waiting down the road for all of us. I pray God's comfort and strenghth for Donna and all his family at this time and in the days ahead.

Donna, Jessie, Mary Grace & Rob, we are so thankful to God that we had a chance to get to know Bob. He was truly a joy and will be greatly missed. The choir at Beallwood is missing a really beautiful voice and man.
Please know that even though we are going to miss Bob, Heaven is rejoicing at his coming home. Praise The Lord!!!
We love all of you and Donna, the grace and trust in our God that you have shown is truly an inspiration to all who know you.

Bob has been such a blessing to all who knew him. He holds a special place in our hearts! We will always remember his kind, gentle spirit and wonderful smile.
