Bimba Salmon

1954 - 2013

NEW IPSWICH - Bimba (Berry) Salmon, 59, passed away quietly in her home in New Ipswich, surrounded by friends and family on Oct. 9, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer, first diagnosed in 2007.

A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her three children, Rhianna Lee of Los Gatos, Calif., Kiernan David and his daughter, Emily Marie of Jaffrey, and Katherine Elizabeth of Greer, S.C. She is also survived by her brothers, Clark Berry of Portland, Ore., Andrew Berry of Brighton, Mass. and Matthew Berry of Marthasville, Mo. Bimba's father, George D. W. Berry died in 1993, and her mother, Barbara, in 2012.

Bimba was born on March 10, 1954, in Cambridge, Mass. Her childhood years were spent in West Newton and Cape Cod, Mass. After earning her high school diploma she proceeded to learn computer programming and worked at Digital Equipment Corporation. A hard worker, exceptionally intelligent and creative, Bimba also mastered skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, weaving and sewing. A life-long vegetarian, her passion, kindness and devotion to the care of all animals, including her wondrous menagerie of pets, will long be remembered. A dedicated mother, Bimba was a free and independent spirit, with a keen sense of humor. Her willingness to fiercely protect and care for the vulnerable and the weak was a huge asset in her work at the Friendship Manor, where she worked as Co-Administrator for the past 16 years and will be dearly missed by residents and staff alike.

A memorial service for Bimba will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the Friendship Manor, 151 Main St., New Ipswich, NH. Friends of Bimba and her family are encouraged to attend to celebrate the extraordinary life of this wonderful woman.
