Dr. Robert B. DuHaime
Keene, NH - Dr. Robert B. DuHaime passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in Jaffrey, New Hampshire with his daughter by his side. Born on January 4, 1931, he was the seventh child of Rodolphe DuHaime and Cecile (Robitaille) DuHaime.
He is survived by his daughter Anne Martha DuHaime of Keene, NH; granddaughter Emily Smith, of Keene, NH and Windsor, SC; Emily's husband Kristian Smith of Windsor, SC; grandson Alex Mainolfi of Suffield, CT; and sister Elise Monroe of Glendora, CA. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Carmen; and sisters Lucie DuHaime, Jeannine Robert, Claire Noury; and brothers Marcel, Paul, and Charles DuHaime.
Dr. DuHaime served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed at Fort Knox, KY as a training leader for the Third Army armored tank unit. Following military service, he attended Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH and in 1954, he married Carmen Beausoleil of Greenville, NH.
Dr. DuHaime always wanted to be a dentist and upon graduation from Saint Anselm College, he went on to Tufts University, Boston, to complete his education and training. Graduating from Tufts in 1961, he established his dental practice in Peterborough, NH and went on to serve the community with his dentistry for over forty years.
His life reflected his ongoing dedication to his practice, his community, and leadership. He was an integral and active part of the Monadnock Dental Society – and Achieved Lifetime Member status of both the American Dental Association and the NH Dental Society. He was considered a huge asset to the NHDS.
He was also active and involved in the Peterborough community, serving as selectman in the late 1990's and supporting town projects and programs, such as the development of the rail trail throughout Peterborough and adjacent communities. He was equally active and committed to the Peterborough Rotary Club and was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellows Award during his tenure with the organization.
His favorite holiday was Christmas and for years he funded and facilitated the lighting of the town holiday tree in the park.
He loved his many dogs, but none more so than his golden retrievers, Trevor and Brittany. His love of skiing was well known by many and always accompanied by his favorite saying, "Pray for Snow."
He was an adventurer and explorer at heart, hiking Tuckerman's Ravine several times, as well as traveling to Nepal to hike the Himalayas, Glacier Bay to view the Polar Bear migration, and going on an African Safari.
Most of all he loved his family, supporting his daughter Anne in her love of horses and competitive riding, supporting his granddaughter Emily in her love of riding, and attending many of his grandson Alex's theatrical stage performances. He deeply cared for his siblings, loved spending time with his many nieces and nephews, especially skiing and attending the University of Michigan football games with his nephew Christoper DuHaime, and philosophizing and talking baseball with his nephew Bob Monroe.
In retirement, he continued in community service, along with Carmen, where they spent countless hours helping the Peterborough Food Pantry.
He also returned to Saint Anselm College in the 2000's, taking classes in Humanities and History and earning a Lifetime Humanitarian Award for his support for the Arts.
