Edgar Ernest “Ernie” Little, 70, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in his residence.
Ernie was born December 19, 1951 in Lake Charles, LA, where he graduated from LaGrange High School. During high school, he played baseball and swam for the YMCA Swim Team. He attended McNeese State University and was part of the golf team. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy, where he continued his schooling. Ernie lived in Indiana and Florida, but returned home to Lake Charles, where he lived most of his life. He worked at Kayouche Coulee Golf Course, where he was the Golf Pro for many years and later worked at McNeese Driving Range, where he was the manager and gave golf lessons to many. He was a past member of the PGA. Golf wasn’t his only passion in life; he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved his LSU Tigers football.
Ernie is survived by his children, Christopher Little of Palm Bay, FL and Leslie Kate Contreras of Peru, IN; grandchildren, Jace and Lily Contreras; and brother, Gray Little, Jr. of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nadine Brown Little and Gray Little, Sr.
His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I'm shocked to learn of Ernie's passing, having searched for him through social media hoping to reconnect. I met Ernie on AOL in the 90's and we hit it off immediately. I admired his hilarious sense of humor and his optimism. I traveled to Lake Charles once to help him grow his business. It happened to be during Martigra and we had a blast. I regret that we lost touch. Keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

Ernie and I met at a golf tournament in Alexandria where is was living. My dad and he had great conversations about the game of golf. We dated long distance for awhile and then left as friends. He will always be one of my true friends.

Ernie was nice guy who love to joke around. He tried to teach me golf when we both worked at McNeese but I did practice enough to become as good as he was. Just hearing about his passing but my prayers go out his family and friends.
