Adelhyde L. "Addie" Gehner Weidner, age 83, of Gillespie, died at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Litchfield Health Center.

She was born on April 2, 1923, in Mount Olive, the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Schwing Gehner.

She married Harold Weidner. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1988.

She is survived by two sons: James Weidner and wife, Janice and John Weidner, all of Gillespie; two daughters: Geraldine Moore of Springfield,

and Linda Kapilla and husband, Mark of Edwardsville; six grandchidlren: Scott and Abby Weidner, Amanda Van Allen, Alison Laughlin, John Kapilla and Peter Moore; three great- grandchidlren: Luke and Lilly Laughlin and Sienna Kapilla; a brother: LaMoine Gehner of Staunton; and a sister: Roleen Gregory of Gillespie.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Guy Moore; and a sister: Nadine Gehner.

Mrs. Weidner and her husband were the owners/ operators of Weidner Grocery for 50 years, and she drove the Senior Citizens van for 10 years. Her memberships included the Gillespie Nite Home Extension Association and The United Methodist Church in Gillespie.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, at the funeral home with Rev. Rachel Stockle and Rev. Dennis Hill officiating.

Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Mount Olive.

Memorials are suggested to the New Beginnings Crisis Pregnancy Center in Granite City.
