Alan Graver Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 4, 2025.
Alan D. Graver left this Earth too early on 5/31/25, two and a half weeks before his 70th birthday and three months before his 50th wedding anniversary to his high school sweetheart Lenore (Dickerman) Graver. Alan was born in Bethlehem, raised in Allentown. He was a Dieruff High School and LCTI alum (class of '73), and he acquired his CDL in 1999. He was employed at Robert P. Peters Manufacturing for 27 years and worked 21 years in the trucking industry. He earned a six-year pin for his service to the Bethlehem Mounted Police Unit. He retired in 2020, simplified life, purchased an RV, and embarked on a cross-country tour with Lenore. They travelled to Yuma, Arizona three years in a row before settling back in PA in their RV full-time. Alan's name will be added to the memorial wall at the Carefree Village Resort in Yuma, AZ at a later time.

Alan was an avid dirt track fan since age 16 and most recently accomplished a life goal of being part of a pit crew. He rode quiet motorcycles for 44 years. He sanctioned six- 300 score bowling games, enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Phillies' games on television. He was a lover of Wawa hot coffee in the morning and long walks with his dogs. He and Leny shared 14 dogs, eight of which were boxers. Alan was an incredibly kind, helpful, and patient friend, spouse, dad, neighbor, and poppop. He had a genuine adoration for his four grandchildren for which he was blessed: Cole (CJ), Autumn, Tanner, and Logan. He knew their sports schedules by heart and always arrived early to their football, lacrosse, and baseball games. His Mustang (West Perry) and Spartan (Southern Lehigh) spirit will live on without him in the stands, but we all know he'll be looking down with a beaming smile.

He is predeceased by parents Donald and Stefanie. He is survived by brother Dale, wife Lenore, and two daughters Angela (wife of Chad Traub) and Laura (wife of Cole Klinger) whom he was so proud of and always lent wise advice. Arrangements have been entrusted by O'Donnell Funeral Home, Inc of Allentown.

Per Alan's wishes, there will be a private service at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Alan's life will be on August 30th, 2025, at a location to be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in care of the O'Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. to either the Southern Lehigh High School Football Team, Southern Lehigh Youth Baseball Association, West Perry High School Football Team, or Adopt-a-Boxer Rescue in Alan's name.

I had the pleasure of Al´s (and yours) company for many years working at Oliver´s. Al was a man all men should aspire to become. He loved people, connections and laughter, but he was extremely proud of his family, to which he talked about at EVERY opportunity. If it wasn´t Lenore and their adventures, or the time with their dogs, it was about his daughters and grandkids. He was honored to help with his grandkids when needed, proud of their academics, athletics, and work achievements. One thing that warmed his heart was his grandson hugging him every time he saw him, in front of his peers. He talked about his son in laws, and what fine men his daughters married. He looked forward to going to racing events with his buddies. He just valued quality over quantity. He´s a rare breed, and I will miss our time together. He always made you feel better. I hope I did the same for him. RIP, Al. I will always remember you, and celebrate our June 16th connection.

I worked with Lenny and Al for more than a decade as Volunteers for the Bethlehem Police Mounted Patrol. Their humility and dedication was unparalleled. Al was always the first to pitch in when help was needed and the last to leave until the task was completed. He was quiet, but super friendly and always able to engage with those around him with a question or interesting anecdote.
Allison and I were so happy for Lenny and Al when he retired, they sold their home, and hit the road as RV travelers.
Al will be greatly missed. Our love and prayers go out to Lenny and her family.

Al, you were my high school classmate, with that wry smile, always respectful, gentle and kind. When you married my cousin, you became family, and, of that I am proud. Rest in peace, my friend.
